This week on Life With Many Blessings, Tiffany and Laura have the privilege to sit and chat with Ginger Hubbard about her newest book “I Can’t Believe You Just Said That“.
Ginger is an award-winning writer whose articles have appeared in numerous publications, such as Focus on the Family, Baptist Press, HomeLife Magazine. She is a veteran homeschool mom of four children and is married to her husband, Ronnie. Ginger’s experience and wisdom has led her on a wonderful journey of touching women with the truths of God’s word across the country.
I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT
Ginger’s newest book, “I Can’t Believe You Just Said That‘” is a book every mom needs on her shelf! She provides real life scenarios and a three-step plan that addresses each behavior. Not only does she provide scenarios and a three-step plan, she also equips her readers with scripture to back each behavioral issue. What a wonderful way to parent with scripture!!
Ginger says, ” By moving past the idea that parenting is about rigid rule-setting or behavior management, we can set aside ineffective practices such as scolding, ignoring the offense, or merely administering punishment. Instead, we start to see that our children’s outbursts are prime opportunities for the ultimate goal of all parenting: to guide them to the redemptive work of Jesus and his transformational power.”
We can read all the parenting books and some may have wonderful parenting advice, but few actually show us how to apply the scriptures to the everyday struggles our children are facing. Ginger has done the homework for us!!! She has a ‘Wise Words For Moms‘ chart that aids you in using scripture to drive out the sin that is bound up in the heart of your child.
STEP 1: Heart Probing Questions
Christ sets the example when he would face another who had done something wrong. Jesus would not say “You did this and this wrong”. No, He would ask heart probing questions. These questions caused the sinner to evaluate themselves which ultimately led to the awareness of their own sin and need for a Saviors. See Proverbs 20:5.
STEP 2: Reprove Your Child Biblically
She bases the next two steps on the verses Ephesians 4:22-24,
” 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. “
Step two is putting off the bad behavior.
Instead of disciplining out of anger, we can gently reprove their behavior with scripture. Ultimately, ‘God’s words will penetrate the heart, convict the guilty, and promote the change.’ (2 Timothy 3:16)
STEP 3: Train Your Child in Righteousness
It is easy to reprove our child but the Bible clearly says we should go further by training them in righteousness. Children need to know what to “put on” by replacing what is wrong with what is right. (Eph. 6:4) Consequences without training with instruction will not help the child the next time the behavior may come about. Parents need to provide the child with a means of escape.
Ways to Memorize the Scripture
Ginger would spit out scripture and moms were amazed at how they easily rolled off her tongue. She revealed that the easiest way her children would learn scripture was through songs. She gives us two resources to check out that may help you and your children memorize scripture through music!
If you have teenagers or toddlers you will reap the benefits of carrying out this three-step plan using scripture to aid in correcting these sinful behaviors.
This episode was such a blessing to Tiffany and Laura!! They are trying to apply Ginger’s 3 step plan in their parenting but still struggle with the mindset change. It is all a process and they are definitely leaning on God through it all!

Freezer Meals!!! The past several weeks, Laura has been doubling her meals in preparation for their homeschool co-op day. Every Tuesday they attend their Classical Conversations Co-Op where from 9 am to 3 pm. This makes for a LONG day but knowing she has a freezer meal ready to pop in the oven she can come home and not have to whip up a meal. Planning ahead is SO important to avoid the stress and anxiety that comes with everyday mothering. Freezer Meals is just one way we as moms can plan ahead!!

Scent Boosters!! Her mom got her hooked on these AMAZING laundry additions and has been using them since. Downy Unstoppables is what her mom recommended, but since they were SO much more expensive she has since switched to the Purex Crystals and they are just as great. The clothes come out smelling so fresh and clean that you can’t help but just breathing deeply as you get them out of the dryer.
